Alva Martínez Teixeiro (A Coruña, 1982) is Professor of Brazilian Literature and Culture at the University de Lisboa. She received her Bachelor of Portuguese Philology degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela and her MA and PhD in Brazilian Literature from the University of Coruña. She succesfully defended her PhD thesis entitled A obra literária de Hilda Hilst e a categoría do obsceno – Entre a convenção e a transgressão: o erótico-pornográfico, o social e o espirtitual in 2010 (European Doctorate and Extraordinary PhD Award). Alva Teixeiro has been a Gulbenkian Scholar (Research Grant for Foreigns on Portuguese Culture, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2011).
Her research works, which have been published in articles and monographs, focus on Brazilian, Galician and Portuguese literatures, as well as the relationship between art and the writing in the contemporary world.
Teixeiro is author of four monographs: Maktub – Da retórica na ficção de Raduan Nassar (2006), A pretensa nostalxia da autoridade – Unha interpretación parcelar d'O porco de pé de Vicente Risco (Essay Award 'Ramón Piñeiro', 2007), O herói incómodo – Utopia e pessimismo no teatro de Hilda Hilst (2009) and Nenhum vestígio de impureza – A obra literária de Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (2013).
