Sérgio Nazar David

Holds a Ph.D. in Literary Theory (UFRJ, 2001) with Postdoctoral studies in Coimbra (2006). Poet, Professor of Portuguese Literature (UERJ) and fellow of FAPERJ (Young Scientist of Our State Fellowship), he is a member of the board of the Brazilian Association of Teachers of Portuguese Literature, and a member of the Centre for Portuguese Literature at the University of Coimbra (Team Garrett). He is the author of Freud e a religião [Freud and religion] (essay, Jorge Zahar, 2003); O século de Silvestre da Silva, vol. I – Estudos sobre Garrett, A. P. Lopes de Mendonça, Camilo Castelo Branco e Júlio Dinis [The Age of Silvestre da Silva, Vol. I: Studies on Garrett, A.P. Lopes de Mendonça, Camilo Castelo Branco and Júlio Dinis] (essay, Lisbon: Prefácio, 2007); and O século de Silvestre da Silva, vol. II – Estudos queirosianos [The Age of Silvestre da Silva Vol. II: Studies of Queiroz] (essay, FAPERJ/7Letras, 2007), among other works. He has contributed to several newspapers, periodicals and literary journals such as Colóquio Letras and Arquivos (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), Prosa e Verso (O Globo), Revista Camoniana (EDUSC Bauru), Revista Discursos  (Aberta University/Lisbon), Diário de Notícias (Lisbon), Público (Lisbon), Diacrítica  (Faculty of Letters/Braga) and Brotéria (Portugal). He edited the critical edition of Correspondência Familiar de Garrett [Garrett’s Family Letters] (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, 2012) and the fourth volume of Edição Crítica das Obras de Almeida Garrett [Critical Edition of the Works of Almeida Garrett] collection.
