To critically revisit the created and re-created, received and modeled cultural heritage is a key task of this Research Group, through the key perspectives of history and literature as major scientific areas.

Focusing on the research and critical analysis of issues and problems pertaining to Portugal’s and Lusophone countries’ intangible heritage and in the comparative relationship with other cultural and linguistic universes, the group develops research projects in little studied fields of cultural history, including topics that intersect with the history of institutions, history of mentality, history of the imaginary and myth criticism with their expressions in different cultural discourses, especially in literary universes. Research results are reflected in scientific events, in the preparation of books and studies, and especially in reference works such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, as well as the survey and critically annotated edition of previously unpublished primary sources.
